Shri Shakthi Samatha Mahila Mahasangha (SSM) is a women’s federation founded in the district of Karimnagar, Telangana under a former Government of India development programme known as Mahila Samakhya that promoted education and empowerment of rural poor women. Established in 1997 from a network of 4 block-level women’s groups, SSM now comprises 10 block-level groups with a total membership of 12,000 rural women, of which 75% are Dalit and the remainder belong to Adivasi, minority communities or Other Backward Classes.

Sisters For Change worked with SSM Federation from 2016-2018 to build the legal capacity of Federation leaders and members in laws relating to violence against women and laws relating to Dalit women and girls.
